Tohu Va Bahu – The Photo Show

May 26, 2012

Arts, Breaking News, Photography

“Tohu Va Bohu” is a Hebrew phrase from the book of Genesis, denoting the time before God created light and dark. In modern times, this phrase has evolved to mean commotion, confusion, chaos. The Senior Photo Show, carrying the same name, had remarkably little chaos, with credit going to the student initiative when they took over the production of the show due to teacher job action. The technical transitions between slideshows were very smooth, and the photography itself was of a high calibre.

Perhaps the term of chaos would best be applied to the many different styles of photography showcased on May 2nd – everything from portraits, stop-motion film, animal subjects, time-lapse photography, and commercial photography coupled with dance. Through these many different styles, the audience could begin to see the varied influences and personalities of the photography students.

The money raised by the show went to sponsor a young boy’s education in Peru, giving this year’s Photo Show an impact beyond LFAS.  Congratulations and a round of applause to the photography students for their excellent photography, initiative in the face of political difficulties, and positive effect on Peruvian education.
