Writing Show at Watershed Cafe

June 16, 2012

Breaking News, Majors, Writing

The grade eleven and twelve Writing Majors had their final poetry reading at the Watershed Café in Walnut Grove. A variety of performances went up including poetry reading, guitar playing and singing. The Watershed Café generously hosts the students twice a year, supplying mics, amps and a wonderful atmosphere.

In a casual writing major way, they gathered on the Thursday night for students to showcase their writing in a spoken word form. Parents, and writing alumni came to the event to show their support as well.

Mariah and Talitha, both grade twelve writing majors, started the show off with a special duo; Talitha spoke and Mariah sang and accompanied the pair on the guitar. Although this is not the first time this piece has been performed, it was recently performed at local writer Ivan Coyote’s teen book launch in East Vancouver just a month ago, where a small group of writing majors attended and performed at the event.

It was another successful evening at the Watershed Cafe, and you can catch the writing majors of 2013 there next year.
