Grade 11 Drama majors perform the Classics

On November 22nd, the Grade 11 Drama majors paid tribute to famous playwrights of past and present by performing several of their classic scenes.

Working since the beginning of the year to perfect this ongoing project, the class incorporated pieces from 18th century playwrights such as …Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw and Anton Chekhov, as well as more modern authors including Tennessee Williams, Beth Henley and Mary Gallagher.

Drama majors have experienced the stresses of pulling a piece together with the help of Ms. Boucher who has been guiding them towards the finished product that was revealed on Thursday. Many spent countless hours in the woodshop theatre preparing for the performances, hanging lights and curtains, and setting up seating to accommodate the audience.

The show received rave reviews from both the actors who performed and the audience members. Both shows, one a double-block matinee and the other one in the evening, put the Grade 11 Drama majors to the test and prepared them for the end of the year when they have to write and direct their own scenes alongside the Grade 12’s.
