LFAS Writing Students Win Top Prizes

Several LFAS writing majors took all the top prizes at the Universal Word  poetry contest that took place in Newton on November 15th.

Students from all over the Lower Mainland submitted poems. Ten LFAS finalists, Cedar Meneghello, Lindsay MacPhee, Patrick McWilliams, Roz Yazdanmehr, Annabelle Angle, Sophie Michie-Thwaites, Hailey Oosthoek, Taylor Murray, Lara Donison and Duncan Lee were invited to share their work in front of an audience and panel of judges.  First prize, a $200.00 gift certificate to Michael’s, went to Sophie Michie-Thwaites. Second prize, a $100.00 gift certificate went to Annabelle Angle.  Lara Donison and Lindsay MacPhee shared third prize and each won gift certificates for $50.00.

LFAS film and Blue Dog Press students filmed the event with the help of a crew from Shaw TV, who  lead a film workshop the day before.
