The senior art majors brought liveliness into the Langley Fine Arts School as they opened a new show.

The Grade 11 and 12 Art majors presented “Life Size” on Thursday, November 22nd in the Mary Pratt Gallery. The paintings were displayed by height, creating an interesting flow in the exhibition. The students were allowed to explore their ideas in a variety of different ways.

They expressed their personal concepts through their figure’s body language, facial expression, colours, text and pattern. For example, to enhance the emotional impact of the piece, the brush strokes and subject’s posture played a critical role. The text in the background, whether handwritten or printed digitally, portrayed the student’s personal interests and stories, revealing and obscuring particular areas to emphasize their concept.

It was evident throughout the exhibition that the students improved and stretched their learning of how to use oil paint with different media to deliver a distinct message. The teachers were proud of their students for presenting a successful show.
