The Watershed Arts Cafe in Langley was transformed into a photo gallery dedicated to McLellan Forest. The senior photography and writing majors collaborated in this special event on the evening of December 6th. The goal was to raise awareness to protect the forest.

All the photographs displayed in the cafe were taken by Grade 11 and 12 photography majors. Through the photos, different perspectives of the forest were exposed using a variety of photographic techniques, including depth of field, framing, contrast, and composition.

The cafe was crowded with people who were interested in saving the beautiful forest which was put on sale by Langley Township. Hillary Ruffini, Susan McCaslin, and Mark Haddock of WOLF (Watchers of Langley Forests) came to take part in the event; they talked about the importance of the unique ecosystem of the forest.

Award winning local poet, Dr. Susan McCaslin, recited poems devoted to McLellan Forest, followed by LFAS writing majors who presented poems that supported the cause.

The exhibition was successful as many left with an increased awareness of the importance of the forest. With the efforts of LFAS students and the Langley community, the council has delayed the decision of what will happen to the forest to January 21, 2013.

Notice: All photos in the cafe are on sale for donation: 12×18 prints for a minimum donation of $30 and 5×7 prints for a minimum donation of $15.  100% of donations go to saving McLellan Forest.
