Christopher Gaze Presentation

Ashley Fraser and Cassidy Lynch had the honour of interviewing Christopher Gaze.

As part of the LFAS Arts Matters Series, Christopher Gaze, the creator of Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach,  visited Langley Fine Arts on Friday, February the 8th. His stories and experiences were thoroughly enjoyed by both students and teachers.

Gaze began his day directing an acting workshop  for grade 11 and 12 drama students and some alumni. He observed as students performed plays and monologues, taking down notes of constructive criticism.

After observing the students, he shared his notes and tips to improve their performance. He earned many laughs as he went on stage, warmly interacting with the actors. Students couldn’t stop talking about Gaze and his ingenuity after the event.

After spending the day touring the school and participating in an interview, Mr Gaze stated that he thought Langley Fine Arts to be one of the best places a young person could obtain a high school education.

Later that evening, a special evening lecture and performance began with the LFAS drama 8, 11, and 12 majors performing their shortened interpretations of Shakespearian classics including, Romeo and Juliet, Richard III, and Hamlet.

During the second half of the night Gaze shared stories about his life as an actor, his philosophies, and answered any questions asked by the audience.
