Michael Kutsche

Michael Kutsche is an award-winning German illustrator, concept artist, and character designer based in Los Angeles, California. He is a self-trained artist who works with both traditional and digital media. His art work could be described as realistic depictions of parallel realities.

His breakthrough into the art world began when he created the magazine artwork cover for SEGA/The Creative Assembly’s “Total War” title. Usually companies like SEGA would hire a 3D company. However, because a three day deadline is too short for a 3D company, Kutsche’s amazing ability to draw in a short time was a great benefit.

Kutsche has been a part of the film and game industry since 1998. The artist has been involved in animation commercials, music videos and feature films. His most recent works involve character design for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”, “John Carter of Mars” (directed by John Stanton), “Thor” (directed by Kenneth Branagh), and “Oz the Great and Powerful” (directed by Sam Raimi).

The artist’s clients include Disney Studios, Dreamworks, Marvel Studios, Warner Bros., SEGA, The Creative Assembly, and Saatchi&Saatchi.
