Several students from Langley Fine Arts video class had their films nominated for the British Columbia Student Film Festival. They spent two days and an evening at Capilano University learning about a future in film and different aspects of the art form.

Three student films from Langley Fine Arts were nominated for BCSFF, including “From Noah,” by Jenna Andres, Ben Evers-Staples, and John McQueen; “Innocence,” by Rachel Millsip, Charlotte Hunter, and Storm McLaughlin; and “Wonderland,” by Katrina Moorthy, Kerrigan Schwitay, Victoria MacDonald, and Cherilynn Fulbright. Jenna Andres won best overall director and best overall writer for her work in “From Noah.”

Each student had four to five classes split between the two days, each one focusing on a different piece of the film industry. They went to many classes, including a mock casting session to teach the students what goes into finding the perfect actor, and a class on props and what goes into their creation.

Saturday night, once the festival had been completely wrapped up, the students revealed that they learned a lot during their time at Cap, and had a whole new perspective on film.
